Submission Guidelines

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Before submitting, please review these guidelines in entirety.

At the Foothills Outlook we are committed to providing information about the area we serve which consists of the Mt Baker School District. We are seeking local interest articles, stories, book reviews, and photographs. Subject matter must be relevant and local to the Outlook distribution area. We are interested in local history, destinations, activities, stories and more that will help inform or entertain our readers.

We are also interested in stories about organizations, individuals or programs that are making a positive difference within MBSD for our Helping Hands section.

We cannot accept opinion pieces, editorials, political commentary, content relating to for-profit businesses or organizations, or personal stories, or advertising.

We cannot accept posts or other content from providers who do not offer direct services within the Mt Baker School District. 

We cannot publish unsolicited or unapproved articles or stories. Article/story abstracts will be reviewed and notification sent within 15 days. 

When updating or changing monthly post, please do not exceed 200 words max. Confine images to your logo and a single photo, graphic or other image in full color, and follow our image requirements listed below. 

Events–Please note: all events must be submitted via the website.

If you would like your event/s, meetings or other activities included in our calendar, please login to your dashboard, click on Events in the menu on the left, and add your details to the form. 

If you do not have an account yet, please go to our home page and click on request account. 

Articles and stories–Please note: all content for posts and articles must be submitted via email to the editor at info@foothillsinfo.com

Before submitting an unsolicited article or story, please send an abstract (max 200 wds) to the editor at info@foothillsinfo.com

Articles and stories need to be in Word or PDF format and be 600-800 words in length on standard 8.5×11 page. Please use double spacing and 1 inch margins on all sides. Use standard Calibri or Aptos body text for all text. Title should be in bold and 16pt font size, headings should be in bold and 14pt font size.

Images must be relevant to the text. Please number and label each image with your name, email address, and a description of the image contents. Please indicate image placement within the text by  placing the image number inside [  ]. Do not place the image within the text; submit images as a separate file in jpg, png or pdf format.

Include author’s first and last names, telephone number, physical address, email address, and website if relevant.

Image guidelines

Images should be well-lit and accurately represent living color. We reserve the right to photo-edit and size photos. 

Images should match the story.

All images should be a minimum of 300dpi and a maximum file size of 2550 x 3300ppi.

Provide the name of the photographer along with a copy of our photo release form signed by the photographer. We will not accept images without proper photo credits.

Please Note:

We do not offer compensation for accepted content. You will receive appropriate credit upon publication.

We reserve the right to edit written content and photographs as needed.

We reserve the right to reject inappropriate or irrelevant content without explanation.

We are a very small staff so responses can take up to 14 business days.
