It’s Fall, there’s a bit of chill in the air, and school is back in full swing! We are excited to reconnect with our young people at Mount Baker High School after a busy summer break. The One Baker Voice (OBV) prevention club meets Mondays after school from 2:45-4:45 pm, and on Fridays during PRIDE in room 311. Please join us if you’re interested in making friends, hosting and attending fun events, educating others about substance use/misuse, and supporting your peers. Snacks are always provided.
National Drug Take Back Day is October 26. This is a reminder to return unused medications either to your provider, or at a designated drop-off. You can also find more information on medication return by visiting whatcomhope.org. Keep your eyes open for an official drug take back event hosted by MBCC later this month, details TBD! We will also at the Trick or Treat Resource Fair, handing out medication lock bags, at the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center on October 31 from 5-7pm. Stop by, say hi, and get a lock bag!
As MBCC continues to rebuild post-pandemic, we are always recruiting new members. If you are passionate about youth substance use prevention and building a community that supports positive health practices for young people (and the community at large), then please join us! We meet the third Monday of the month from 2:45-4:15pm in hybrid form. In person during the school year, we meet in the Mount Baker School District Board room, and online at the following zoom link:
